Genus of about 10 species of deciduous, terrestrial orchids from cool to temperate regions of China, Taiwan, and Japan. They have short rhisomes that develop corm-like pseudobulbs, partially underground. Each pseudobulb produces 3-4 linear to obovate, folded leaves. Upright, terminal racemes of up to 12 bell-shaped flowers are borne from spring to early summer. Nice plant for a cool greenhouse or for alpine house.
Indoor, grow in soil-based potting mix with added leaf mold, in bright filtered or bright indirect light.Outdoors, grow in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil in a sheltered site, with partial shade in summer. Mulch during winter, or dig up and store in a dry and frost-free place.
Water freely in summer. Keep dry in winter.
Divide in early spring.
